Nationally Accredited Training
We are an industry leader specializing in remote and rural Indigenous retail training. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) ALPA offers both accredited and non-accredited training. Under the mutual recognition principles of the Australian Qualifications Framework , we have the capacity to deliver nationally accredited training in all States and Territories. ALPA also recognizes the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any other accredited RTO.
ALPA as an RTO is registered through the Australian Skills Quality Authority, so we can issue nationally recognized qualifications. Presently we deliver Certificate II in Retail SIR20207, Certificate III in Retail SIR30207 and Certificate IV in Retail Management SIR40207 as well.
Our Training Commitment
We specialise in on-the-job delivery to the employees of remote retail stores including those employed in takeaway outlets. All course materials are customized specifically for these client groups where low levels of literacy and numeracy is a common barrier to meaningful engagement. Our plain speak approach also encourages the participation of managers and supervisors in the accredited training process.
All our trainers and assessors require both appropriate workplace training qualifications and hands-on remote Indigenous community store management experience as well. We are also available to provide cross cultural mentoring and induction strategies to support those new to this challenging environment.
All of our training and assessment methods are developed with extensive industry consultation and benchmarked to tried and tested retail policies and procedures, including those that assist in meeting OH&S obligations such as employee inductions and emergency procedures.
Other resources have been specifically developed to teach essentials such as food safety to students from a non English speaking background (NESB) and low literacy clients.
Essentially, our approach encourages accredited training to be offered to all employees at the completion of their probationary period. Consultation with committees and owning groups is also available as a means of developing a supportive environment. Additionally we have culturally appropriate, ready-for- work programs that enable the rapid transition of the unemployed into meaningful, sustainable employment.
Our ultimate aim is to strive for all training delivery and assessment to be conducted on the job by vocationally competent trainers and assessors from the same language group and locations as the students that they are training.
