One ALPA One Vision Joneesha Gurruwiwi Joneesha Gurruwiwi Cancer Treatment and Recovery Fund Donate UPDATE 11/5/2021 - Recovery is taking longer than expected. On behalf of the Gurriwiwi family we would like to keep our supporters updated on Joneesha's progress. Her treatment has been going to schedule, however Joneesha is requiring further recovery time and we wish to continue to support her and her family throughout this additional burden. We would like to thank everybody who has made a contribution to this Appeal and helped us achieve our original goal. Due to the added expenses associated with Joneesha's recovery, we have recently revised our funding target to $30,000. We hope this will continue to ease the financial pressures on Joneeshas family. Joneesha Gurriwiwi is just 7 years old and was sadly diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer called Medulloblastoma. The cancer was also located in Joneesha's spine and she was flown to Queensland's Children's Hospital to undergo major surgery in November last year. Joneesha will continue aggressive chemotherapy treatment every 8 weeks between Darwin and Brisbane and she will require a family escort to be at her bedside during this vulnerable time. Joneesha's family is asking for important funds to help her parents financially to cover the expensive travel and accommodation costs. We know that this will be a very tough time for Joneesha and her family and we hope you can help provide assistance so that she can have the best love and support throughout her treatment. Joneesha and her Mum, Maxine Gumana, and Dad Jonathan Gurruwiwi, are from the remote Arnhem Land community of Gapuwiyak, and travel costs are extremely high to commute to Darwin and even further interstate. We hope that you can help ease the financial burden and help Joneesha receive the best care for her future. Joneesha is supported by Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation and the Yolngu Communities of East Arnhem Land and ALPA.
