The East Arnhem Land Youth Model (Guŋga’yunga Djamarrkuḻiny) has recently been working with family members in Ramingining to strengthen intergenerational knowledge transfer through a Pandanus activity This project aims to strengthen young women in Ramingining through cultural activities such as collecting pandanus, weaving and arts. These activities are led by strong Yolngu women, who are keen to pass on their knowledge and skills to the next generation.

So far, this project has run twice with family groups heading out bush to collect pandanus and then working at Bula’Bula arts for the weaving component. This project will continue to run until December 2021, and we are excited to see some positive outcomes and engagement from the young women of Ramingining.
