With sophisticated systems and procedures, Island & Cape run successful remote stores with the assistance of the latest technology. Work with us to create a better future in our communities

Island & Cape is proud to announce the appointment of Cr. Keri Tamwoy to our Board of Directors. Aurukun Mayor Tamwoy was recently elected in Queensland's local election earlier this year and says she is proud to follow in her mother, Alison Woolla's footsteps who was Aurukun's first female Mayor back in 1983.

Mayor Tamwoy says as a local and consumer in Aurukun she will be bringing her local knowledge to the table.

"I hear what the community wants and need in the shops. As a consumer, I am always looking at what products are on display such as white-goods and also checking out the fresh produce and its quality. It's important to give that community grassroots feedback to the Island & Cape Board."

"I also want to continually work with the Board to figure out how we can consistently bring down prices, that is very important too while continuing to maintain the business. The Aurukun Store Manager Andrew is always giving me updates on products and pricing which is good too."

Island & Cape is proudly part of The Arnhem Land Progress Corporation (ALPA) and its CEO Alastair King says we are pleased Mayor Tamwoy has accepted a position on our Board to ensure local voices are heard across our Cape York and Torres Strait Island Communities.

"We are delighted Mayor Tamwoy is part of the Island & Cape Board. We know she will ensure local voices are heard across our Cape York and Torres Strait Communities."

Mayor Tamwoy is also encouraged that Island & Cape is not only providing employment opportunities but certified training opportunities too.

"It's great to know that ALPA is an RTO that can provide Retail Certificates to those locals wanting to undertake studies in our stores."
