Youth services

The ALPA Youth Service has Drop-In spaces located in Ramingining and Galiwinku. The ALPA Youth Team focuses on early intervention and ongoing support services to vulnerable young people and strengthening their relationships with their families and community support networks.

The Youth Support program aims to deliver four key outcomes, for our young people:

  • Develop the skills to maintain positive and healthy relationships
  • Build confidence and resilience
  • Increased awareness around mental and physical wellbeing
  • Participation in education, training and/or employment

Our Youth program is Yolngu led and has a strong focus on traditional cultural and law frameworks, maintain healthy and loving relationships in the community, helping young people engage in education/training/employment, developing leadership skills, and building resilience & confidence. Our Youth team also has a core focus on case managing disengaged at-risk youth and their families to help them connect to services and reengage socially.

Our Youth Teams are working with at-risk young people and providing engaging educational workshops around mental health and wellbeing, drug and alcohol, sexual health, and healthy relationships. Our staff package these workshops in programs that are Youth-focused, active and engaging. The team has delivered healthy cooking, music and film making, campfire circles, arts and crafts, sports and cultural activities daily.
