Recently, Tony Webb our Galiwin'ku based trainer delivered a pilot course at the Minyerri School to help assist students interested in pursuing a retail career.
This was due to the great relationship between the Warliburru store management and the school staff.
The students have been helping out at the store in many ways including unloading deliveries, stocking shelves and fresh fruit and vegetable produce, working the cash register and cleaning.
Some of the students say they will continue with the training after their initial pilot run and are excited to be creating a pathway into a real job straight from school.
Thanks to all involved for making this collaboration a success and what a great example this is of community stakeholder engagement working on the ground.
All stores are able to access school-based traineeships, in fact, most schools would love to support these, the ALPA Training team are always looking to support employment pathways.
