Congratulations to Jowellah Durilla. Jowellah is from the Marrakulu family of the Gurka'wuy Homelands and was raised across several homelands including Baniyala, Dhurupitjpi and Malkala (on Groote Eylandt). Jowellah's diverse background gave him the inspiration to give back to the lands across Arnhem Land. Jowellah has completed a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders Primary Health Care Practice with Bachelor Institute. He’s now waiting to do his AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency) registration. He will be the first Registered ATSI Health Practitioner working at Marthakal Homelands Health Services. He started his health career working with Gunyangara and Yirrkala Miwatj clinics and then Marthakal in June 2019. He was thankful for the assistance from ALPA Higher Education Hub, as well as Peter Malavisi (manager of Marthakal Homelands Health Services) and others for their ongoing support. Jowellah is looking forward to giving back to members of the community and homelands.
