ALPA this year started a fundraising appeal for Joneesha Gurriwiwi who was diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer called Medulloblastoma. We are proud to say that all of your efforts and generosity helped raise nearly $27,000 to assist her family in caring for her.

The 8-year-old has been receiving treatment since her diagnosis between The Royal Darwin Hospital and The Queensland Children's Hospital and her family needed funds to help with their flights and accommodation to be by her side during this tumultuous time.

Joneesha's Grandfather and Gapuwiyak member Gutjapin Gumana, has expressed his sincerest thanks to those that have made a donation or spread the word to help his granddaughter.

" I was told she is in her last cycle of chemo treatment and will now be checked daily for any reactions to her treatments so far....she will be scanned mid-October to see if she is ready to come back to the NT and so far it is looking good."

" I would like to say on behalf of the family members from both Father and Mother's side and give our appreciation to all involved in supporting Joneesha during her sickness. She is about to come home and even though it is not over yet, we believe she has been healed by the grace of God and we give thanks to all involved. Much appreciated and we would love to hear from you all."

ALPA would also like to express our gratitude to the supporters of Joneesha. We will keep you updated on her health and success soon.
