Our Story ALPA Board Margaret Marrkula Director representing Gapuwiyak "I want to be a role model for the younger generation and speak up about issues that are affecting our community." Margaret (Dhamany 2) Marrkula is a Traditional Owner Director representative for the Gapuwiyak community, elected in late 2023. Margaret contributes to her community through diverse positions. In addition to her role as ALPA Director, she's a Director on the Milindji Aboriginal Corporation Board (family corporation) as a Director and provides support as a Communications Facilitator. Margaret is also an Elected Member of the Northern Land Council, and works as a Local Coordinator for ALPA's East Arnhem Land Youth Model (EALYM). She's proud to be elected to the ALPA Board of Directors and says she wants to focus on making strategic business decisions that benefit the communities of Arnhem Land. "I feel happy to represent Gapuwiyak and learn more in this role. I want to be a role model for the younger generation and speak up about issues that are affecting our community. I want our younger ones to get on the right path and focus on their education and futures. This is a way I can give back to my community."
