What does remote or working remote mean at ALPA?

At ALPA, working remotely refers to working in a remote First Nations community. Our operations are in remote parts of the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland. If you’ve never travelled to a remote First Nations community before, it can be hard to know what to expect. Check out our blog article about living and working remote.

How do I get to a remote community?

Our operations are based in extremely remote locations, and due to seasonal conditions, road travel is not always possible. ALPA employees must be comfortable travelling in small/light aircraft, able to meet 3rd party aviation requirements, and willing to travel long distances on unsealed roads.

Accommodation - what's on offer?

For certain roles based in remote communities, we offer fully subsidised furnished accommodation with utilities included. Check the job advertisement to see if accommodation is offered as part of the remuneration package.

I’ve submitted my application. What’s next?

Our Recruitment Team and hiring Managers carefully review job applicants for each opening and reach out to candidates who appear to have the skills and experience required for the position.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, only applicants progressing to the next stage will be contacted directly.

If you move forward to the next stage, you will be contacted for an initial phone screening interview with the recruitment team. If you progress from here, you will have an interview with the hiring manager. Please be advised, due to operational demand and volume, we are unable to contact every applicant over the phone unless you have completed an interview with a hiring manager. If you have not completed an interview with a hiring manager, you will be advised via email on the outcome of your application.

Before ALPA can make an official formal offer of employment, you will be required to complete police, reference, rights to work and medical checks.

For some positions located in a remote First Nations community, we may also fly you up to the NT to visit a community as part of the ongoing recruitment trips we run. This will ensure you get an idea of what remote community life will be like and can inspect our available accommodation and amenities.

Even if you’re not contacted for the job you applied for, your information will go into our recruitment database. Your details will remain in the database for a limited period. We may contact you if a position comes up that matches your skills and experience.

Where at ALPA's offices and operations located?

ALPA's operations are concentrated in remote areas of the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland. We operate in 26 remote sites, and our Darwin Support Office located at East Arm houses our Divisional Teams who support the greater remote operations.

To find out more, explore ALPA’s operational map.

I live overseas. Can I apply for a role with ALPA?

Only applicants with full time working rights in Australia will be considered.

What other roles does ALPA have available?

ALPA has a variety of vacancies across our four divisions: Retail, Community Services, Enterprise and Corporate Services. Visit Current Vacancies to find out more.

What skills and qualifications do I need to apply for a role at ALPA?

This will depend on the job requirements. Check the skills and experience section of the job advertisement to find out more.

Can I complete my 88 days’ work for my second or third holiday visa with ALPA?

Most of our positions are permanent full time or permanent part time roles. For this reason, it is unlikely we can hire those on working holiday or short-term visas. Please check the job advertisement for specific details.
