Shane Dhamarrandji: Celebrating one of the first successful RAES placements Shane Gunyuwal Dhamarrandji’s story is an example of what sustained, tailored employment support can achieve. As one of the first successful placements under the new Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) Employment Placement Support (EPS) model, Shane’s journey represents an exciting step forward in delivering stronger, more sustainable employment outcomes in community. Shane began his pathway with Galiwin'ku RAES as the Lead Supervisor of the Gardening Project in Galiwin’ku. In this role, he demonstrated leadership and commitment while building valuable, transferable skills. With the support of the RAES team, Shane developed the capability needed to transition from projects-funded work into the broader local labour market. In December 2025, Shane reached an exciting milestone in his career, securing full-time employment as a Municipal Services Officer with East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC). Since then, he has continued to go from strength to strength, becoming a valued member of the team and further developing his skills in a structured workplace environment. EPS goes far beyond simply placing someone into a job. It's about walking alongside participants as they build confident, stability and the skills they need for sustainable employment in community. Shane’s journey is the perfect example of what can happen when people are supported with the right tools, encouragement and opportunities to succeed. The feedback from his Supervisor at EARC has been outstanding, with Shane consistently recognised for his reliability, strong contributions to the team and positive impact on the workplace. We are incredibly proud of Shane and excited to continue seeing him thrive in his role. Manage Cookie Preferences
