Our Story ALPA Board Mark Gukgukpuy Emerging Leader representing Milingimbi “As a young person, I want to show leadership in my community by supporting the older people and also helping to mentor other young people like me.” Mark Gukgukpuy joined the ALPA board as an Emerging Leader from Milingimbi in 2024. Mark has made significant contributions to his community through a variety of roles. As an ALPA Store Supervisor in Milingimbi, he ensured the store operated smoothly and met the needs of local residents. More recently, Mark has worked as an Aboriginal Police Liaison Officer, helping to strengthen relationships between community members and police and fostering collaboration. Mark said he felt proud when he was nominated by the Milingimbi Community Advisory Committee as an Emerging Leader. He believes it's crucial for young people in the community to show leadership and support the older generations. In this role, Mark hopes to drive positive change and create strong outcomes for his community. During ALPA Board meetings, Mark says he values discussions about the Rulku Family Trust and the partnership between Rulku Lodge and ALPA, and how this can deliver benefits to the wider community.
